Scalextric App Reviews

For anyone who raced slot cars as a kid

Lots of fun. Controls slightly laggy? But may be an attempt to be realistic, but real Scalextric cars are in my experience a bit more responsive. That is my only (mild) criticism. Will get my son to download so we can try multiplayer.

Its ok

Would be better if there was some digital aspects to it like lane changes or pit lane, more then two cars. I cant seem to race my custom tracks with a buddy, it defaults to the pre built ones… I love playing though. Please fix

Good game

The controle is a bit difficult

Track editor is buggy

The game is good. I downloaded every iPad slot car racing game I could find and this is the one I kept. Well done and high quality with various views of the track when racing. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the track editor. The track editor is buggy and hard to use. Sometimes pieces of track are not correctly placed and left hanging after which they cant be deleted. And the UI for the track editor isnt well thought out. I keep acidentally hitting the exit button when I mean to hit the delete button. This causes me to lose the track that I was working on. The exit button should be moved away from the other. track editor buttons.

Needs lots of work

Too slow to respond when you hit the throttle. Sometimes the throttle does not respond at all. Also, you need to be able to set the camera angle before the race begins. Where is the multiplayer option?!? I cant tell any difference in the skill levels, theyre all hard. The car selection is really crappy. Great idea, less than great product. I would have thought Scalextric would have attempted a much more realistic slot car simulation.

Good for track planning

Good for planning, but the game is a bit slow with the throttle and car selection is weak. This is still fun though.

Get real

Seems like it has potential and expandability EXCEPT that even on the easiest setting its close to impossible to win. Whats the point of having difficulty settings? Im pretty good (stay on track but fish tail speed) so I cant imagine anyone enjoying this much. Too bad.

Horrible. Bad car selection, bad slot car physics. Don

I own and play a real Scalextric kit. This app doesnt even come close to simulating or pretending to mimic how slot cars react when you accelerate and not accelerate. Scalextric also offers HUNDREDS of car models in real life. The 4 choices of cars in this game are about the worse selection of cars Ive ever seen in ANY video game. Im SHOCKED Scalextric would even endorse this game. This is just plain horrible.

Has promise but needs major work

Interesting concept to bring Scalextric to the iPhone - this is an entry level game and should be free - then add masses of cars, much more track and you have a paid app. Also if youre going to do track design then do it right - allow me to use this for my own set and let me enter the amount of pieces I own - so I can try out a circuit on the iPhone before I go build it. Also let me have bridges and flyovers !

Has potential

This could be a very fun game with new cars tracks and track parts. What would really help would be an auto complete button for designing tracks because it is impossible to finish a track that is good. Also if you unlocked cars and new tracks that would give the player something to look forward to.

My childhood!!!

Not since I was a kid have I enjoyed slot cars. This game does a good job of reproducing that fun. Like it was on my living room floor, once you fly off the track, it is "game over". I am giving this game 5 stars because it has much potential. It is frustrating that the computer player never messes up. It is hard for me on the easy level and I would recommend an easier setting for lousy drivers like myself but all in all, this game rocks!!!

Couldve a whole lotbetter...sigh

This app can be better. More cars, band tracks. Better physics too. I have two real tracks, and eight cars. They dont crash on crossovers and stuff. So more cars. More editor tracks too. Like jumps and pit garages. Roadside stuff ya know. Otherwise. Just like the real thing.

Like it.

Its got the action and limitations of my track, but it can be played on-the-go. The editor is a bit challenging: on more complicated creations its tricky to get the final connect to line up.

Realistic

Everything is great like in real life. The only thing is that I wish you could change lanes like SCX Digital slot cars. I cant get multiplayer to work on my iPad. Otherwise, this is excellent. Also, the makers DO LISTEN (yay!) to these reviews. I say,"Download it!"

Forget multiplayer

Too bad multiplayer DOES NOT WORK!! Its the reason I bought it. Implement WIFI not game center.

Multiplayer does not work

This app is brilliant apart from one small problem: the multiplayer just does not work. The racing is fun but what is the point of it if you cannot share it with others. Do not buy this app if multiplayer is your intention.

Good gameplay

The scalextric app is very fun. It has realistic gameplay but th graphics are just so bad. Its not worth a dollar. Might as well buy the light version. Tho only differences aremor tracks and more parts. You coudnt even customize them, you could only change the colors.

Good customizable slot race fun

Superior game app of this genre. Lots of fun Especially if you relate to slot racing physics and track features. Runs great on my iPod Touch 3G with iOS 4.3

Its worth the $.99!

The buck gets you some fun, racing on their tracks or your custom designed track. The designers could do more and offer more track and options (figure 8), but for a buck this is okay.

Slots of fun

Cant believe how much this is like the real thing. Same amount of trouble keeping car on track.
